Common wealth games 2010 – what to expect
Tuesday, September 7, 2010
As the D day approaching, we Indians are keeping our fingers crossed to make our mother land a good host. But alas! Indian's Commonwealth Games preparation have been unexpectedly depressing. The organizers committee is following the old adage of what can go wrong will go wrong. There are so many political wrangling, allegations of corruption, doping scandals along with delays to the completion of venues have made a negative publicity of the mega events. More over the fear of dengue fever is getting worse. About 24 countries have asked in writing about the dengue status of the country. These all together have made the pre games situation a bit scary. The controller and Audit General agency criticised the games as the most expensive ever.
The Commonwealth Games is held once in every four years. It is a unique, world class, multi-sports event often referred to as the ‘Friendly Games’. As a means of improving the society and people, the Commonwealth Games Federation' encourages and assists education via sports development and physical recreation'. The current scenario of New Delhi CWG is not at all impressive. The core values of Commonwealth Games Federation - HUMANITY - EQUALITY - DESTINY are missing here.
Today just 27 days before the game we are still not hopeful enough to have the event successful. We can wait, watch and can hope for the best.
