Gujrat Government Identifies A New Home For Asiatic Lions

Great news for the Asiatic Lions of India. These magnificent wild beasts are going to have a new home in Gujarat.
Along with Tigers,Indian government is also concentrating on other wildlife species of the country, to protect them from extinction.
Asiatic Lions of Gir National Park are the perfect testimony of this. To protect these animals from the verge of extinction, recently, Gujarat Government has identified a new home for the'King of jungle' in the state.
A vast lush canopy near Wankaner in Rajkot district has been selected as a new home for Asiatic Lions.The state government has decided to relocate Asiatic Lions of Gir to this new found home of the species.
After Bardo Dungar in Porbandar district, the state government of Gujarat has identified this area as second home and for the lion gene pool project. This Lion gene pool project aims to maintain gene diversity of lions as well as to guard these wild beasts against threat of any epidemic. At present this national park of the state has 360 lions which are living freely within its territory.
Gujarat government has declared that they have identified this area for long-term conservation of lions. They have also planned to make drinking water available in the area and construct check dams
